Naked Party!
*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*
Merrick has started to get un-dressed in the middle of the day. Then run around yelling, "I naked! I naked!" Any tips on how to stop this....or at least slow it down?
I'd let him do it for awhile as long as you're home and not doing anything he needs clothes for. The novelty should wear off. Sometimes letting them have control over something they think they can't do makes it less appealing. Just fight the battle when he has to be dressed.
Whenever he's naked, clip a clothespin to his scrotum. Just very matter-of-factly explain that is has to be there if his clothes are off. He'll soon decide clothes are better.
I was still thinking about this later (yes, I need to get a life) but I have to disagree with the ignoring suggestion. I think kids behave this way as an effort to get some attention. Ignoring it is still ignoring him. Get him involved in something fun when you notice the shirt start to come off.
You don't have to ignore him to ignore the behavior, maybe just don't make a big fit about the clothes being off:) He can still do crafts naked, infact smooth skin is easier to wipe up! Maybe you could even potty train him while he's going through the naked phase, its way easier to get on and off the pot(that would be sweet to get done before number 3 comes). I came back too just to see what other people said...is the anonymous your mom?:) I know kp went through this with Lois, so you are not alone
Allowing kids freedom within safe limits allows them to make choices. The key is to make it be something you're ok with. If you're ok letting him be naked...then let it go. If you're not, make a consequence for when he gets naked. And consistently follow through. It's all about teaching, not ignoring.
I think all children go through the "naked" phase. You probably already know what is right, however, I don't know about the clothespin idea! I betcha that wasn't written by a man!
A little tip for you "ladies" out there commenting on the naked thing...the clothespin trick also works with husbands - or any other men that continue to show up naked in your presence!
I guess if you want more parenting advice you know what to do... just ask:) hehe, there is always plenty to go around, so what are you up too with your alone time? anymore beading? lets see it!

Overalls or safety pinned jammies. :)

I think Lisa had some great advice! They just love to do things to get a good "mom" reaction:) Good luck!

Anonymous makes me laugh!! Good luck with this, but seriously you might want to try to potty train, that would be awesome!!

Now that I know anonymous is your mom it makes me a little sick to my stomach to think of your dad with the clothespin. Ouch!
